Father Daughter Summit 2008

February 22 & 23
Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church

The National Center for Fathering and Free Market will be partnering once again to hold two seminars in the Dallas area designed to inspire and equip men to be a championship father through interactive, practical, and challenging sessions. Father-Daughter Summit is designed as a relationship strengthening weekend for fathers and daughter, grandfathers and granddaughters, uncles and nieces, step-dads and step-daughters, and father-figures in other unique situations.

More than 200 fathers and daughters came out for Free Market's annual Father/Daughter Summit hosted last weekend at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church. The event overall was a great success, not only in numbers, but more importantly, in the lasting impact it will have upon the relationships of those who attended. Experts from the National Center for Fathering held seminars educating dads and their girls on ways to communicate and stay involved in each others' lives. In the words of one father, "I thought I listened to her before, but now I know I have a long way to go." Dr. Paul Pettit, Professor at Dallas Theological Seminary and author of Dynamic Dads, gave a compelling keynote address, speaking from the experience of being a father of three young girls. To top off the event Friday night, the brave duos took on the Texas two-step with the help of professional ballroom dancer, Charlie Peterson of Tyler. In the words of Free Market's Tonya Coffman, who helped organize the event, "the smiling faces of both the dads and daughters after the two-step Friday night said it all-they were connected and ready for more."
